Today, we proudly declare that this reunion has been officially sanctioned by the league record holders, boasting an impressive 16 titles.

In a formal statement, SC Villa has confirmed the triumphant re-signing of their esteemed former captain, Gavin Kizito Mugweri.

Following an unfortunate period at Egypt's Al-Ittihad Club of Alexandria, Kizito has now made a resolute return to his beloved club.

The anticipation surrounding this move was palpable, as Kizito subtly hinted at the imminent deal through a thought-provoking social media post a week ago.

Today, we proudly declare that this reunion has been officially sanctioned by the league record holders, boasting an impressive 16 titles.

This exciting development comes after more than a month since Kizito's contract was prematurely terminated by his former Egyptian outfit, Al Ittihad Alexandria.

Regrettably, injuries hindered his progress during his time there, allowing him to make a mere three appearances on the grand stage.

Kizito's homecoming is met with great enthusiasm, considering his remarkable versatility as a player.

Throughout the years, he has demonstrated his prowess both in the center and on the right side of the defensive line, positions he has adeptly filled.

From his teenage years, Kizito has stood as a beacon of leadership, previously captaining Villa during his initial tenure. Additionally, he led the Uganda Hippos to the AFCON U20 final, a valiant effort that ultimately succumbed to Ghana's triumph.

His exceptional talents have also earned him a consistent place in the Uganda Cranes squads in recent times.

However, he was regrettably absent from the team that achieved a commendable 2-0 victory over Niger last week, narrowly missing out on securing a spot in the Africa Cup of Nations finals.

Meanwhile, Villa has wasted no time in bolstering their ranks, with a series of notable acquisitions.

The likes of Elvis Ngonde, Denis Ojera, Braddy Jeans Wokorach, Charles Lwanga, and Peter Onzima have already joined the club, injecting fresh talent and ambition into the team.

The commencement of the 2023/24 Uganda Premier League season is eagerly anticipated, and Villa's opening fixture will take place at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, as they face newly promoted side, Kitara FC, on Friday.

It is an occasion that promises excitement and a chance for Villa to lay down their marker for the campaign ahead.
