While the four are out, it's not guaranteed their absences will be felt as Vipers is stacked with quality in depth in all departments.

Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC will have to do without four of their major players in the opening stages of the new season.

The Venoms have confirmed defenders Hillary Mukundane, Patrick Paul Mbowa, striker Fumador Asiwome and goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora as injury concerns for the team.

Mukundane, the League's best defender last season, is enduring a PCL (Posterior Cruciate Ligament).

The PCL, is commonly injured by overextending the knee (hyperextension), and it has kept Mukundane out of action for the past three weeks.

While his return date hasn't been specified, it's unlikely the colossal defender will be back on the pitch soon.

Meanwhile, Mbowa, a recruit from four-time UPL winners URA FC, suffers from a groin injury.

The groin is commonly associated with stretching, injuring or tearing the inner thigh muscles.

His possible return hasn't been confirmed after appearing and impressing in three competitive games, but he will undoubtedly be a big addition should he make a prompt recovery.

Mutombora is enduring the same setback as Mbowa, and their return shouldn't be very far apart.
