Last evening, as Vipers comfortably beat Iganga Young FC 3-0 in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, Salem was on the scoresheet and thus became the first Mauritanian to score in the competition.

Vipers SC Mauritanian forward Mohamed Salem Ekbad has written his name in three pages of Uganda's football history, months since joining the Uganda Premier League champions.

At the start of the campaign, Salem became the first player from Mauritania to play in the Uganda Premier League as Vipers beat Gaddafi FC 2-1.

In that same game, to mark his debut, the 26-year-old scored the winner and became the first player from his country to score in Ugandan football.

Last evening, as Vipers comfortably beat Iganga Young FC 3-0 in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, Salem was on the scoresheet and thus became the first Mauritanian to score in the competition.

His goal, the team's second on the evening, made it three goals in Vipers colours since joining at the start of the season.

Salem's other came against BUL FC in the league as Vipers lost 3-2 at St Mary's Stadium, Kitende last year.

Salem joined from Mauritania League 1 side Nouadhibou, where he had played for two seasons and won the league championship in each.

In the two seasons at Nouadhibou, he scored eight and 13 league goals in the first and second campaigns, respectively.

He has also previously played for FC Sahel in the 2018/19 season, a team he helped to the first division as he netted 12 times.
