Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC were pitted against Botswana outfit Jwaneng Galaxy in the preliminary round of the 2023/24 CAF Champions League.

The victor between the two will take on one of Comoros' Djabal FC or South Africa's Orlando Pirates, in the second preliminary stage.

Vipers' new head coach Leonard Neiva has asserted he is wholly satisfied with the draw and that his team will be ready to battle their opponents.

"About the draw, we are very satisfied but you know in an international competition like that you to be ready," Neiva spoke to Vipers' media.

"You have to be ready to play against any team but we're satisfied that we are going to play against Jwaneng Galaxy."

The tactician also gave an update on the team's preseason preparations.

"I'm satisfied and very pleased with our group, as we have an experienced group that have played in the champions league."

"We also have so many players from the Uganda national team and also players who are young with potential so I'm sure we are going to do a very good job," Neiva expressed confidence.

"The last three weeks when I wasn't here, the team emphasized the physical part, this week it's the tactical bit."

"Step by step, we're going to improve the physical, tactical and the mentality of our group," the Brazilian summed.

In the previous season, the Venoms went all the way to the group stages where they finished bottom in Group D, behind Horoya AC, Simba SC and Morocco's Raja Casablanca.

Against Juaneng Galaxy, Vipers will be away between August 18th, 19th or 20th, before the St Mary's Stadium, Kitende bout on one of 25th, 26th or 27th August.
