"The league is a marathon, and in this second round, we have not played any game, and they have played two."

Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC (30) trail table leaders BUL FC (37)  by seven points, albeit with two games in hand.

While the latter have played two second-round games, the Venoms will be making their first with a St Mary's Stadium, Kitende affair against Gaddafi FC on Thursday.

With the second round getting underway at the start of the month, the Kitende-based outfit hasn't been in action as their would-be opponents, Arua Hill SC, were sent packing to the second tier for failure to honour the club licensing requirements.

"We are prepared for tomorrow's game, our first game of the second round," said assistant head coach Baker Kasule to the club media.

"The league is a marathon, and in this second round, we have not played any game, and they have played two."

"We need a good start in the second round, and we expect to play well and get maximum points," Kasule added.

Meanwhile,  Gaddafi lie 13th with 16 points accumulated from as many games.

Vipers and the Army side have met four times in the league previously, and the former boasts three victories, with the latter on one.

Captain Milton Karisa and forward Mohammed Salem Ekbad were on target as the Vipers won 2-1 when the two sides met earlier in the season. Benson Muhindo netted Gaddafi's consolation.
