"The league is a marathon, and in this second round, we have not played any game, and they have played two."
Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC (30) trail table leaders BUL FC (37) by seven points, albeit with two games in hand.
While the latter have played two second-round games, the Venoms will be making their first with a St Mary's Stadium, Kitende affair against Gaddafi FC on Thursday.
With the second round getting underway at the start of the month, the Kitende-based outfit hasn't been in action as their would-be opponents, Arua Hill SC, were sent packing to the second tier for failure to honour the club licensing requirements.
"We are prepared for tomorrow's game, our first game of the second round," said assistant head coach Baker Kasule to the club media.
