FOOTBALL Micho leaves Uganda Cranes job
Sredojevic, a Serbian coach who was serving his second term as the Cranes coach, still had one year remaining on his contract, having signed a three-year deal in July 2021.
“We have reached a mutual agreement with Brazilians Rodrigues Lopez Giancarlo, Luiz Otavio Santos de Araujo alias Tinga and Ivorian Desire Tety to terminate their contracts effective from today,” the club officially confirmed on Friday morning, adding that “the trio have all departed after mutual consent was reached with the club.”
Giancarlo had penned a two-year contract but was able to muster a paltry 360 minutes or thereabout.
He will be remembered for two things: being the first Brazilian to kick a ball in Uganda and his ferocious shot off a freekick against Maroons in the FUFA Super Eight, a preseason tournament.
Tinga suffered an injury setback, which is predicted to take a long period to heal.
On the other hand, the Ivorian Tety played ten competitive games, with five coming in the CAF Champions League.
He leaves with a richer curriculum vitae that now reads a Uganda Premier League and Cup double-winner.
The departures come after the club failed to go past Botswana side Jwaneng Galaxy in the first round of the CAF Champions League.
The team also failed to save face finishing 7th in the FUFA Super 8
