Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse admits the club “haven’t learned anything” this season after yet another defeat that all but sealed their fate.
Southampton lost 4-3 to Nottingham Forest, leaving them on the brink of relegation from the Premier League.
Time ticking for Southampton
The Saints are now eight points from safety with just three games remaining.
As the season comes to an end, Ward-Prowse is disappointed by the performance of his team against Forest, which is a regrettably familiar feeling after a disappointing season.
“Games are won and lost at both ends of the pitch and when you give two goals away in the way that we did, and we scored three goals but it’s still not enough and I think that says a lot about where we are as a team at the minute,” he said.
“It’s been too easy. Right from the first game against Spurs until now we’ve not really learned anything, not really progressed, we’ve just taken these results as they are and that’s the most disappointing thing.
Southampton are bottom of the Premier League and return to action against Fulham on Saturday.
