Garnacho vs Reece James
United and Chelsea went into the game in different forms. The Blues were looking to consolidate on their win against Brighton while the Red Devils needed to banish the ghost of that defeat to Newcastle United.
However, the match was evenly poised at the break following goals from Scott McTominay and Cole Palmer. But things peaked in the second half after the introduction of James, who started the tie from the bench.
The chelsea captain came face-to-face with United’s Garnacho whose agility and speed proved to be a problem for the England star.
United’s academy graduate, Garnacho, 19, was a threat with the ball at his feet and a moment during the game between him and the Chelsea skipper has become a talking point on social media.
In a split second, the Argentine youngster darted past James with lightning-quick feint that left the defender flat-footed.
The crowd erupted in cheers as the United winger elegantly maneuvered his way around Reece, with the video now making the rounds on social media.
Garnacho capped off his excellent display by setting up McTominay for the winner in the 69th minute. The assist was a summation of his performance of the day before he was subbed off in the 89th minute for veteran, Jonny Evans.
The youngster created three chances, made two key passes, had five attempts and completed just one dribble, a memorable one against Reece James.
