Raheem Sterling’s miss
With the match evenly poised at 0-0, Chelsea had a chance to take the lead after just the half-hour mark.
The visitors were presented with a chance to break the deadlock when Joao Gomes was dispossessed leaving Sterling through on goal with Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer.
With the three Chelsea players against the Wolves goalkeeper, the England international opted to go for a goal instead of passing to one of his two teammates.
The Wolves goalkeeper, Jose Sa, pulled off a superb save to deny the former Manchester City winger.
Sterling’s miss proved to be costly in the end for Mauricio Pochettino’s men as Wolves went on to take all three points.
Mario Lemina and Matt Doherty netted two second-half goals to hand the Blues their 19th defeat in the Premier League in 2023.
Christopher Nkunku did pull one goal back for the Blues, created by the villain himself, Sterling, but it was too late for them to mount a comeback.
