Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC picked a comfortable 2-0 win over URA at the St Mary's Stadium, Kitende floodlights on Thursday.

A goal in either half from Erick Kambale and Abdu Lumala handed three valuable points, to ascend to second on the log with 17 points

Vipers nearly grabbed a second minute lead but Mohamed Salem headed inches over the bar a Lumala cross.

At the ninth-minute-mark, the hosts broke the deadlock with Kambale striking a low-drive from outside the box past goalkeeper Denis Otim.

The Venoms kept the dominance and nearly added a second after 25 minutes, but Otim kept out a Salem low effort.

While URA had the better possession, it's Vipers who were the bigger threat, as they saw out the opening 45 minutes.

Seven minutes into the second half, Vipers added a second as Lumala capitalized on a Najib Fesali back pass to round off Otim and slot in an empty net.

A minute later, it should have been three for the home team but Kambale was denied by a superb Otim save.

Four minutes after the hour-mark, substitute Rodriguez Shamamba should have scored but his shot with the keeper to beat was thwarted by Otim.

URA nearly pulled one back in the 77th minute through Saidi Kyeyune's stinging shot but custodian Fabien Mutombora denied him with an exquisite save.

Four minutes to the 90, Kyeyune yet again test Mutombora from distance, but the latter was equal to the challenge.

The Venoms eventually condensed the game to pull three massive points and a clean-sheet.

Following the results, Vipers will visit UPDF FC in their next match at the Bombo Military Barracks on November 30.

Meanwhile, a day later, URA will host Express FC at the Mehta Stadium.
