Once again, Denis Onyango and his Mamelodi Sundowns team are gearing up for another cup final this Saturday.

Ismael Watenga, Onyango's protégé, watches with admiration as Onyango gets set for his second MTN 8 cup final.

Watenga highlights Onyango's vast experience from past finals, believing it could be pivotal for Sundowns in clinching the cup.

"He's always been a source of inspiration to me,” Watenga shared with Pulse Sports before adding.

“With his track record in cup finals, he certainly has the experience Sundowns needs to win this Saturday. I have no doubt the coaches recognize his capabilities. I'm extremely proud."

Golden Arrows' goalkeeper Watenga further remarked: "Every achievement of his spurs me on even more. I'm wholeheartedly supporting him and hope he gets the chance to play and shine."

Onyango boasts an illustrious career, making him the most decorated player in PSL history.

His accolades include 10 league titles, three Nedbank Cup titles, two Telekom Cup titles, a CAF Super Cup, a Champions League title, and an MTN 8 title.

This 38-year-old goalkeeper has also been showered with individual honours, scooping up three PSL Goalkeeper of the Season awards, all while playing for Masandawana.

Leading the Uganda Cranes in the 2017 AFCON – their first participation in 39 years – and reaching the round of 16 in the 2019 AFCON for the first time since 1978 are among the milestones that preceded his national team retirement.

"Onyiso" is renowned for delivering outstanding performances in cup finals for the Brazilians.

In the 2015 Telekom Cup final, Onyango was instrumental in securing a 3-1 win against the Kaizer Chiefs, saving two penalties in open play.
