For those unaware, Usama Arafat, a winger for KCCA FC, recently earned his inaugural call-up to the Uganda Cranes for friendlies against Mali and Zambia.

Ismael Watenga never envisioned that his football career would someday see him share the pitch with his younger brother on the Uganda Cranes team.

For those unaware, Usama Arafat, a winger for KCCA FC, recently earned his inaugural call-up to the Uganda Cranes for friendlies against Mali and Zambia.

Usama is Watenga's biological sibling, and Watenga, the Golden Arrows' goalkeeper, is brimming with pride for his brother's achievements.

“I'm elated for Usama,” the goalkeeper expressed to Pulse Sports before adding.

“I always emphasize to him the importance of determination and dedication in this profession, and he's clearly heeded that advice by earning a spot on the Cranes squad.”

“However, he shouldn’t get complacent. It’s just the beginning. It would be a surreal experience to play side by side on the field, a dream realized.”

Arafat Usama committed to the Kasasiro Boys in August 2021 with a three-year contract.

Since then, he's established himself as a key player, netting four goals across various competitions.

The 22-year-old showcased his skills by scoring twice in the FUFA Super Eight classification match against SC Villa and by netting two goals in KCCA FC’s 3-2 victory against Libya’s Abu Salim in the CAF Confederation Cup's second preliminary round at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende.

Meanwhile, Watenga, who's currently on loan at Golden Arrows from Mamelodi Sundowns, has had a stellar start this PSL season, achieving three clean sheets and being honored with two man-of-the-match awards in his eight appearances.

The former Vipers and Chippa United goalkeeper recently earned his second man-of-the-match recognition and clean sheet during Golden Arrows’ 1-0 triumph over Sekhukhune United.
