A total of 27 coaches have enrolled for CAF C Coaching Course currently ongoing in Kakamega town.

The month-long course began on Monday at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega, with CAF Coaching instructor George Ondula and former Kenya international Fred Serenge tutoring the coaches.

The notable participants include former Sony Sugar goalkeeper John Waw and former FC Talanta defender Adams “Adeh” Ewoton.

Ewoton, who holds a CAF D license, thanked the federation for enrolling him in the exercise.

“I am from Turkana, and we sometimes feel marginalized. I am happy to be here, and I must thank FKF for giving me this opportunity,” said Ewoton.

Ewoton became a coach after picking up an injury while playing in Norway and has been in charge of various teams in the Northern Eastern region.

The 2010 Copa Coca-Cola Nairobi region best player started playing football at Nairobi Primary School and later joined Kakamega High School.

He joined Norwegian third-division side Brumnddal on loan in 2017 from Talanta Football Club, where he got injured.

Waw, on his part, retired from active football in 2019 and joined Division One side Soy United as a goalkeeper trainer.

In October 2020, he switched to Sofapaka FC in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League. He served for one year before joining Tanzanian Premier League side Kagera Sugar in the same capacity.

Waw is currently on the books of Kakamega Homeboyz, a club he played for during his career.

Most coaching courses resumed in January after Kenya’s FIFA suspension disrupted the programs as a result of government interference.

The CAF C course is part of a series of capacity-building coaching courses that have delivered 5302 coaches at the introductory CAF D level.
