However, the former Everton man believes Messi is superior.
Rooney has long been a huge fan of the Argentine legend. In 2018, he praised Messi, saying:
"In my eyes, they [Barcelona] are the best team ever, and Messi is the best player ever. What he gets to do is incredible. Messi has just got a bit of everything."
