Nottingham Forest star have not played for the Super Eagles for some time now following his injury problem; his most recent game was a November World Cup qualifying match against Lesotho.
Dating back to their loss to Ivory Coast in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final in February, the three-time African champions have only won once in their previous five games.
They won a friendly match against Ghana in March, lost a friendly match against Mali in the same month, and then lost to Benin and drew 1-1 with South Africa in June's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying round.

“I think I just want to assure all Nigerians that they should be supportive, they should try to support us.
“I know it might not look like what they have wanted but one thing is sure, Super Eagles will always be Super Eagles but it is not just saying we are the Super Eagles, it is us proving a point that we are the Super Eagles.
