The Arsenal manager delivered positive news to supporters after North London derby success.
Rice speaks on team performance
After the game, Rice told TNT Sports that the victory might have been much more straightforward and that he didn't require additional inspiration to play his team's fiercest opponents.
He said, "We are unlucky we didn't score 10, that's the feeling. We don't need a message, playing Spurs, if you can't get up for that then you shouldn't be playing football.
“We could have had another five or six and that is the disappointing thing. Tonight meant more than anything. From the first minute, the first 45 was pure domination, you can tell it was a derby."
In a thrilling match at Emirates Stadium, Mikel Arteta's squad came from a goal down to defeat Spurs, with all three goals occurring in the first half.
Dominic Solanke's own goal and Leandro Trossard's low strike gave Arsenal the lead after the visitors had taken the lead through Son Heung-min.
Arsenal had multiple chances to increase their lead in the second half but could only win by a slim margin.
