Arsenal stutter again
The Gunners suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Serie A champions at the San Siro after a Hakan Calhanoglu penalty kick late into the first half.
The defeat was the second consecutive 1-0 loss after the Gunners were beaten at St James Park by Newcastle, which put a damper on their chances of lifting their first Premier League title since 2004, as they are now six points adrift leaders Liverpool.
The margin could worsen this weekend as they face perennial rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge—their third consecutive non-EFL Cup away fixture and the results from the first two are not encouraging going into the tie.
However, the Arsenal boss is hopeful, and he assured fans they were prepared to beat Chelsea this weekend to avoid making it three consecutive Premier League games without claiming maximum points.
What Arteta said
The Arsenal boss said his team performed admirably against an impregnable Inter side and believes that if they replicate their performance against Chelsea over the weekend, they will take home the tie.
“The way we played tonight against Inter... the team can go to Chelsea and win,” the Spaniard told reporters after the defeat.
