Boniface speaks on weekend result
The 23-year-old said after the game that while he was happy to be playing again, he was upset that Bayer Leverkusen had given up their lead in the closing minutes to draw with Werder Bremen.
Boniface told Bild, "It felt good to come back from such a situation. I am really happy with the reaction and the messages from the fans. I am happy to be playing football again and to feel their support.
"We can do much better as a team. We have to stay focused for the full 90 minutes. If we can do that, we will win the games.
"We are very annoyed that we didn't win the game. We know: This is football and games like this can happen. Our mentality is to fight back in the next few weeks."
Boniface scored the opening goal of the game with a brilliant strike that put Werder Bremen's goalkeeper rooted to the spot.
The Nigerian international has scored six goals in eight games, one fewer than he had at this point last season.
