Leading the outpouring of support was team captain William Troost-Ekong, who took to social media to express his solidarity. "I love you my brother, we dey together," Troost-Ekong wrote, using a popular Nigerian phrase to convey his support.
Fellow goalkeeper Amas Obasogie also shared a heartfelt message, stating, "My Chief, I hold you close in our thoughts at this sad time. I'm deeply sorry for your profound loss."
