Eric Chelle's task of naming his first Super Eagles squad is expected to be daunting, with the spate of Super Eagles players performing throughout Europe. The latest? Orban, who is deemed a dangerous striker by his club coach.
Nigerian striker Gift Orban has earned high praise from his coach at Hoffenheim Christian Ilzer, who tagged the 22-year-old as dangerous and urged the rest of the squad to seek him out more in the 18-yard area.

Orban’s resurgence
Orban was a fresh face in 2022 that joined the ranks of Nigerian attacking talents dominating in Europe. He scored 15 goals in 14 starts during his first season at Gent and was close to securing a Super Eagles call-up.
However, he slowly tailed off. His second season at Gent was not as prolific, but he still showed enough quality to earn himself a high-profile move to Lyon.
Orban never settled at the French side and was shipped off after one year to Hoffenheim.

Hoffenheim coach praises Orban
The Nigerian is settling nicely at Hoffenheim, with four goals in eight league games, to the delight of Ilzer, who praised Orban for being a thorn at the side of defenders.
“It will be important that we play as a team, that we use our strikers in such a way that they can score,” Ilzer told Hoffenheim’s official website.
“When you see how dangerous Gift is in the box, we have to make sure that we use him there more often.”
“He has made good steps. It’s not just about scoring, but also about how he works for the team as a whole. He has now integrated better and better. This means that his strengths can become a key factor.”
With Orban's reascension, the youngster will hope to get back in contention for a first Super Eagles call-up, with other talented strikers like Tolu Arokodare and Victor Olatunji hopeful for an Eric Chelle call-up.
