Ghana has denied Nigeria several times in different qualifications, but Ogunmodede has declared that his side will break the jinx on Saturday.

Nigeria's Super Eagles B assistant coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, has declared that the team will break Ghana's dominance over them in Saturday's 2024 CHAN qualifier final return leg.

The match will be played at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria, after the first leg ended in a goalless draw in Accra last weekend.

Ghana has repeatedly thwarted Nigeria's qualification aspirations in the past. The Black Galaxies denied the Super Eagles B a spot in the 2022 CHAN finals in Algeria.

What Ogunmodede said

Ogunmodede expressed cautious optimism at a pre-match press conference, highlighting the team's thorough preparation.

This time, Ogunmodede is determined to break this perceived "curse" and secure qualification for the CHAN tournament later next year.

“We’ve carefully analysed Ghana’s strengths and found that they rely heavily on history. We’ve done everything possible to ensure history doesn’t repeat itself this time. Whatever Ghanaian ‘curse’ exists must be broken tomorrow; our goal is to qualify for CHAN,” Ogunmodede declared.

A win would see the Super Eagles B qualify for the CHAN 2024 tournament, while a defeat would extend Ghana's recent dominance over Nigeria in these qualifiers.
