Pedri opened up Hansi Flick's zero-tolerance for lateness.
Barcelona's midfield star Pedri recently opened up about the strict disciplinary measures enforced at FC Barcelona regarding punctuality.
According to the 21-year-old Spaniard, the Blaugrana stars were forced to pay steep fines under different managers.
Pedri revealed this on the Spanish show ‘Martínez y Hermanos’ via AS, detailing how lateness at the Catalan club was no laughing matter.
Under the guidance of Barcelona legend Xavi Hernández, Pedri explained that players would face a hefty financial penalty if they arrived late to training.
Not only were they fined €1,000 per minute, but Xavi had doubled the amount to send a message on the importance of discipline.
Pedri speaks on Hansi Flick’s no-n onsense approach and his struggles with English
While Xavi hit players in their wallets, Germany coach Hansi Flick took a harsher stance when he briefly oversaw training for the team.
According to Pedri, under Flick, latecomers would miss out on playing the next game entirely, a punishment that left no room for negotiation.
The drastic measure put extra pressure on players to arrive on time, knowing they could be benched for a single misstep.
The young Spaniard also humorously admitted to struggling with English, an issue that became glaringly apparent when he attempted to chat with actor Tom Hiddleston, famous for playing Loki in Marvel’s ‘Thor’ movie.
The Euros champion revealed he could not understand the actor when he tried having a conversation with him.
Pedri also spoke on his Barca teammate and Kopa Trophy winner Lamine Yamal, revealing that the 17-year-old is not as good in EA Sports FC (formerly known as FIFA) compared to when he dazzles in the real world on the pitch.
