Kylian Mbappe chosen as new France captain
France coach Didier Deschamps has reportedly informed the national team players that Kylian Mbappe will succeed Hugo Lloris as national team captain.
Konate, however, has expressed empathy for Mbappe, acknowledging the immense pressure he faces.
"When he is with us, everyone is around him. Mbappe's position in today's world is exceptional. I often tell him: 'I want your level of football, but I don't want your life'. Because, frankly, it is difficult to bear having your name everywhere, for everything you do," Konate said via Goal.
The Liverpool defender stated that Mbappe's contributions to the French national team should not be overlooked.
"We should not be ungrateful for what he has been able to contribute to this French team and the whole world is aware of it," he added.

Ronaldo, Mbappe or Messi? — Harry Kane reveals best footballer in the world
Who is the best footballer in the world right now? Harry Kane believes there's only one answer.
Konate also acknowledged that the decision to exclude Mbappe from the national team is ultimately up to the coach.
"It is up to the coach who makes his decisions. He is the one who decides whether he wants to call him up or not. I have no say in it," he said.
Mbappé's 2024 has been disappointing, and there seems to be no immediate improvement in sight. After failing to lead Les Bleus to EURO 2024 success, he joined Real Madrid amid high expectations.
However, he has faced criticism from the Spanish media for his lackluster performances, managing only eight goals in 16 games, leaving both the team and fans wanting more from the latest 'Galactico.'
