Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is excited about the club's latest recruit backing him for great things.

Leny Yoro made a promising debut for Manchester United in their 2-0 pre-season victory over Rangers at Murrayfield, Edinburgh, on Saturday.

The 18-year-old defender, who joined the club just two days prior, impressed his new teammates and fans alike with his performance.

He completed 100% duels, 92% pass accuracy four of seven accurate long balls, one block, and one clearance.

The match saw Amad Diallo score in the first half, followed by Joe Hugill doubling the lead after the break. Meanwhile, Andre Onana made his first pre-season appearance and played a full 90 minutes against the Scottish side.

After the win, Onana praised Yoro's performance, highlighting his talent and potential.

"That's why he's here [he has lots of talent]," Onana said, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

"If you want to be a Manchester United player, you must have quality, and he's already shown himself in the first half. He's young, talented, and good on the ball, so we're going to enjoy him this season."

Onana also expressed confidence in Yoro's temperament, stating,

"He will [have the temperament], he will, and we're here to help him. We're going to give him time, we know he's going to be alright, and we have very good scouts here, so if they made him come, that means he's got a lot of quality."

Yoro's arrival is a welcome addition to United's defense, which was plagued by injuries last season.
