The Portuguese gaffer is entering his first transfer window as Manchester United manager and is apparently keen for reinforcements during the winter.
Manchester United explore Osimhen swap deal
According to several reports, Manchester United are keen to bolster their attacking options with Osimhen ahead of the second half of the season with current options in disappointing form.
The duo of Joshua ZIrkzee and Rasmus Hojlud have managed 11 goals in 52 appearances between them, while seasoned forward Marcus Rashford openly stated his willingness to leave the club for a fresh challenge after being dropped for the Manchester derby, leaving the Red Devils in dire straits.
The record Premier League champions are now believed to be using Rashford’s willingness to leave as a potential transfer pawn to land Napoli’s on-loan striker Osimhen.
The Red Devils have reportedly considered making a January move for the Nigerian striker with Rashford going in the opposite direction and Amorim’s words all but confirm some transfer activity in the winter transfer market.
Amorim speaks on potential January move
With Manchester United languishing in 14th place and only seven points away from the relegation zone, the Red Devils will be desperate to turn their season around and could look to the January window for some inspiration.
When asked about Manchester United’s plan for new signings, Ruben Amorim told reporters, “Which positions will we cover? I will keep that to myself… but we will try and do something,” confirming the club’s intentions in the market.
With links to Osimhen heating up, Amorim’s words would have done little to cool down the rumours, adding to speculation that the striker could be set for an Old Trafford switch.
Osimhen, who has already scored more goals this season with Galatasaray than Zirkzee and Hojlund combined, would be a huge addition to Manchester United, and Amorim’s words will have the Red Devils faithful excited about the chance of signing him.
