Wilfried Zaha speaks on Zaha's attitude, and his desire for him to remain at the club.
Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha's contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and multiple attempts by Palace to extend it have failed to bear fruit, but manager Patrick Viera says that Palace will do everything to keep him.
The 30-year-old winger joined Palace permanently from Manchester United in the winter of 2015 after initially spending six months on loan at Selhurst Park.
What Viera said
Viera reiterated a sentiment he's held publicly, saying he would like Zaha to continue at Selhurst Park.
However, he admits that it is Zaha's decision to make, and they are waiting to see what he decides, but they will keep pushing for him to say.
Viera trusts that the club is doing what it takes to tie Zaha's future with theirs, reiterating that he is well-loved by all employees and fans of the Eagles alike.
Zaha keeps Palace's advancements for contract renewal pending; however, Viera confirmed that it has not affected his attitude toward training.
The French manager says Zaha remains committed to Crystal Palace while he remains contracted to them, and he says he is happy with Zaha's input in training.
"We do what we can and everybody knows we want to keep Wilfried in our football club, but it will be his decision,” he said, per the BBC.
“We are waiting to see what he wants to do. On our side, we'll do everything to keep him at the football club."
"He is committed every single day. What will happen after, that is going to be his decision and this is something we can't control.
"I believe the club is doing what it can to keep him and he knows how much the club loves him, he knows how much the fans love him.
"Now everything is in his hands and he has to make a decision, and the decision will be when he will be ready to give it.
"What I'm seeing of him every day in training… I'm happy with it."
