Sam Allardyce jokingly offered the fourth official a £5 note during Leeds United’s 3-1 against West Ham United.

The former England boss’ new side are currently fighting relegation and the game at the London Stadium could have proven crucial to their survival chances in the Premier League.

The 68-year-old manager’s team had taken the lead through Spanish striker Rodrygo before the incident occurred on the touchline.

The touchline incident between Allardyce and the fourth official

Allardyce was caught on camera joking with his assistant Carl Robinson as he picked up a £5 note on the floor and gave it to the fourth official who refused to collect it.

The ex-Bolton boss pocketed the cash as he laughed and left the scene. But his action did not go unnoticed by fans on social media.

What fans said about the incident

One supporter said: “Sam Allardyce offering a £5 he found on the touchline to the fourth official. What a legend.” 

Another said: “Allardyce is hilarious man.”

As the match went on Declan Rice who could be leaving the Hammers in the summer struck back with a beautiful volley to level the score at 1-1.

Jarrod Bowen made it 2-1 in the second half while substitute Manuel Lanzini put the result beyond reach for Leeds as the game ended in a 3-1 scoreline.

Leeds will play Tottenham at Elland Road on the last day of the season with hopes of winning and expecting the likes of Everton and Leicester City to be on the losing sides against Bournemouth, Newcastle and West Ham respectively.
