In his brief stint of just over 13 minutes on the pitch, Osimhen showcased his remarkable skills by netting a goal that is already being touted as a contender for goal of the season.
After initially having a goal ruled out for offside, three minutes after he came on, he finally found the back of the net with a stunning bicycle kick in added time.
The goal was met again with tension as it underwent a VAR check, but it was ultimately confirmed, allowing Osimhen to celebrate his long-awaited strike.
“I wanted to do it the first time, and then the guy came in front of me,” Osimhen explained in a video shared by Galatasaray on their X account shortly after the match.
“If I did (play) it, if I touched it, it would have been a free kick. So, I left it; the guy fell down, so it was easy for me. I have been wanting to score this goal—it’s been a long time. It came at the right time. It’s ballistic.”
Reflecting on the tense moments before his goal was confirmed, he added, “When they were checking the VAR, I was looking at APO (his teammate), and I was like, ‘oh, APO.’ You know, he came to meet me and said, ‘what if it’s offside? What are you going to do to me?’ I said don’t worry when we get to the dressing room you will know.”
Osimhen's short time in Turkey has been impactful; he has now contributed seven goals in just five matches for Galatasaray since joining on loan from SSC Napoli.
His performance against Antalyaspor not only marked his return from injury but also reaffirmed his status as one of the key players for the club as they aim for success in both domestic and European competitions.
With this impressive display and his goal-scoring prowess back on track, fans will be eager to see how Osimhen continues to influence Galatasaray's campaign in the coming weeks.
