Edo Queens earn N500 Million despite losing third-place match
CAF has announced that Nigeria's fourth-place finish will still earn them $300,000 in prize money.
Although Edet celebrated the victory, her joy was overshadowed by a knee injury suffered in the opening 2-0 win against the University of the Western Cape, which sidelined her for the rest of the competition.
Nevertheless, her dedication to her team remained strong. She underwent successful surgery in Casablanca, marking a significant step in her recovery.
She established herself as a leader with Bayelsa Queens in Nigeria and won the Nigeria Women Football League (NWF) before embarking on a record-breaking run with the Congolese outfit.
Edet reflected on her journey returning to football after motherhood presented a unique set of challenges for Edet nearly a decade ago.
“Our football system doesn’t always make room for childbearing.
“When I got pregnant, I lost my job, and financially, it was tough. But with determination and the unwavering support of my mother, who took care of my child while I trained, I was able to regain my fitness.
