Africa's finest Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen were nowhere to be found in the 100 best-valued players list with Victor Boniface the only Nigerian listed.
Victor Boniface has emerged as the most valuable Super Eagles player, according to the latest CIES Football Observatory rankings, with notable compatriots Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen conspicuously absent.
Boniface, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen, is ranked 89th in the list of the 100 best-valued players in the world, with a market value of €65.3 million, making him the only Nigerian included in this elite group.

Lookman and Osimhen Missing
Despite Lookman's impressive performance this season—where he has netted 12 goals and provided six assists in just 22 appearances for Atalanta—he was not recognised among the most valuable players.
This oversight comes even after Lookman was recently awarded the 2024 African Player of the Year. Similarly, Osimhen, who has scored 10 goals in 12 matches for Galatasaray in the Super Lig, also failed to make the list.
The CIES report highlights a scarcity of African representation on the global stage, with only three players from the continent making the top 100.
Boniface stands third among African players, trailing behind Senegal's Nicolas Jackson and Ghana's Mohammed Kudus.
The absence of Lookman and Osimhen raises questions about how player valuations are determined, especially given their recent performances.
Global Context
In comparison to Boniface, Jackson leads with a valuation of €105.4 million, while Kudus is valued at €66.2 million.
The overall list is topped by Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham, whose market value stands at €251 million. Following him are Erling Haaland (€221m) and Vinícius Júnior (€206m), showing a competitive landscape where player valuations fluctuate based on performance and market dynamics.
Boniface's recognition as the most valuable Super Eagles player reflects both his potential and current form, while Lookman and Osimhen's absence from the rankings shows a significant gap for Nigerian footballers in global valuations.
While the football season progresses, it remains to be seen how these players will respond to their current standings and whether they can elevate their market values in future rankings with improved displays on the pitch.
