Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface commented on losing the Europa League final to his compatriot, Ademola Lookman.

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface was not having it, when it was suggested to him that Ademola Lookman's historic performance for Alatanta could have in mitigating his pain of losing the Europa League final.

Lookman scored a hat-trick in the final of Europe’s second-tier competition, to help La Dea beat Boniface’s Leverkusen. The Ondo-born striker was not trusted from the start and could not manage to right the tide when he was introduced at half-time, as his team suffered their first and only defeat of the season to lose the Europa League.

What Boniface said

Speaking to Football Fan's Tribe, Boniface was asked if losing the Europa League final to Lookman “his brother’s” team made him have mixed feelings and Boniface replied, “Which one is my brother?”

“For we, it doesn't matter who scored us or anything. It was like an important game, to complete the treble. It's part of the game, and we lost to Atalanta; they were a really good side.

“I think during the first 15-20 minutes, they were much better than us, but I think I will learn from our mistake. We are really proud of ourselves of what we achieved the whole season, and we are really happy with ourselves.”

Lookman and Boniface are both in the Super Eagles camp in Uyo, as they hear up to host Bafana Bafana on Friday, June 7th, in their CAF World Cup qualifiers fixture.
