More than 3,400 people have been killed and thousands more injured after a powerful magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Turkey and Syria early on Monday.
On Monday, February 6 2023, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake rocked areas of Turkey and Syria, causing devastation across the countries with rising casualties.
So far, at least 3,830 deaths have been confirmed with 5,606 buildings collapsing in Turkey alone, according to Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Agency.
Monday also saw multiple reports of 31-year-old Ghanaian and Hatayspor forward Christian Atsu, being trapped under debris following the earthquake. As of Tuesday, Atsu has been found alive, although injured, and has been removed from beneath the rubble and transferred to the hospital.
