Gernot Rohr is looking forward to another important clash between his Benin Republic and the Super Eagles.
Gernot Rohr, the head coach of the Benin Republic national team and a familiar figure in Nigerian football, is well-acquainted with the talent within Nigeria's Super Eagles.
Having previously managed the Nigerian side, Rohr has revealed a deep respect for several players, particularly three standout stars who have made a lasting impression on him.

As Nigeria prepares to face Benin Republic in an important Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Thursday, Rohr acknowledges the challenge posed by Nigeria's top talents.
Among those he admires is Ademola Lookman, whose two goals led Nigeria to a commanding 3-0 victory over Benin in their last encounter.
Rohr considers Lookman one of Africa's finest talents and a strong contender for the African Player of the Year award.
In addition to Lookman, Rohr praises Victor Osimhen and Moses Simon, reflecting fondly on the years he spent coaching them.
Despite his admiration for these players, Rohr playfully hopes that Lookman's scoring form will not continue against his team, especially after his exceptional display in their previous match.
“We see that in your (Nigeria) list you have Victor Osimhen, Lookman, Moses Simon, and all the big strikers but I love these players because most of them were with me a few years ago,” Rohr stated in an interview oer NationSport.
“But I hope he will not score against us (on Thursday) like he did in the last game in Uyo.”
Rohr, who led Nigeria to significant milestones during his tenure, is fully aware of the challenge ahead as Nigeria sits just one point away from securing their spot at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
He recognises Lookman’s recent achievements, including securing a Europa League spot with Atalanta and nearly winning the AFCON MVP award, which makes him a formidable opponent.
Under caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen, Nigeria aims to maintain their unbeaten run in the qualifiers while Rohr hopes his Cheetahs can pull off an upset.
