Why Abubakar Lawal, Patrick Mbowa will miss Vipers' trip to UPDF

Two of the most important Vipers SC players, Abubakar Lawal and Patrick Mbowa, are set to sit out their away trip to UPDF FC slated for Sunday at the Bombo Military Barracks.

While Lawal is down after contracting malaria, Mbowa is out as he sits his university examinations.

"Nigerian Abubakar Lawal contracted Malaria and is ruled out while Patrick Mbowa was granted leave to finish his university exams," the club revealed.

Lawal has featured in each of Vipers' league games this season, scoring twice and assisting on one occasion.

Mbowa, on the hand, has played seven league games this season for thw Kitende side, keeping five clean-sheets and netting one.

Meanwhile, defender Hillary Mukundane and goalkeeper Alfred Macumu Mudekereza are long-term injury absentees and will continue to watch from the sidelines.

However, five players who missed their previous game against URA FC due to their late return from international duty are all in contention.

Yunus Sentamu, Milton Karisa, Rogers Torach, Jack Komakech and Bright Anukani are fully back in the squad.

It should be noted that victory for the Venoms will take them to second with 20 points, as they currently sit third with seven points adrift of leaders BUL FC, who are on 24.
