AFC Leopards coach Tomas Trucha has sent a passionate plea to the club to resolve their stadium standoff quickly since they are missing out a lot by playing at Dandora Stadium.
AFC Leopards coach Tomas Trucha has urged the club to quickly resolve the standoff with Sports Kenya so that the club can be allowed to use Nyayo Stadium.
Ingwe and Gor Mahia were fined Ksh505,450 and Ksh126,000 respectively by Sport Kenya last week following destruction of property by a section of their fans during the Mashemeji Derby which K’Ogalo won 1-0 on April 21.
Further, Leopards were temporary barred from using any Sports Kenya facility until the fines are fully paid following the damage that saw a polycarbonate canopy at the players' tunnel, numerous fixed and portable seats, all-metal shovels, corner flags, and even taps and gate valves broken.

With Ingwe unable to pay the fine on time, they were forced to host Bandari at Dandora Stadium on Sunday, a match they won 1-0, but the facility can only host close to 5,000 fans which denied a number of supporters an opportunity to witness the match.
Trucha feels having more fans in the stadium would have been an extra motivation to his side and wishes the standoff can be resolved so that they club returns to its traditional home of Nyayo where they can accommodate more supporters.
“We have this issue with the stadium. We know they come in big numbers and if it was a big stadium, we would have 15,000 to 20,000 but to have just 4,000 is not enough. We hope they can resolve this,” Trucha told Azam TV on Sunday.
Only 4,800 tickets were available for Sunday’s match, which were sold on first come first served basis, and while the Leopards fans filled the stadium, a lot more were locked out, leading to Trucha’s plea.
Leopards have enjoyed an increase in the number of fans attending their matches this season which has also boosted the club’s coffers but the standoff with Sports Kenya means they will still have to do with less fans until they are cleared to return to Nyayo.
Leopards, who play away to FC Talanta on Sunday, still have three more home games this season, the first of which will be against Kenya Police on May 15, and will need to get clearance from the stadia management organistion to return to their home or look for alternative venues.
