The retired striker says the Belgian has shown an ability to turn Ingwe into a very competitive team.

Former Gor Mahia forward Ronald Okoth has pleaded with AFC Leopards to stick with head coach Patrick Aussems.

Ingwe’s wait for a league title is set to continue beyond this season, as they are already out of contention.

However, they have a chance to end the campaign with at least a trophy given that they are in the FKF Cup semi-final, where they will play Kakamega Homeboyz on Saturday.

Okoth lauded Aussem's playing style and explained why the Belgian needs to be around for a long time.

"If you look at the type of football they are playing at the moment, it is very entertaining," Okoth told Pulse Sports.

"It is a nice style of football, but even though they sometimes do not get the results they want, you can see the beautiful football they are playing.

"There is nothing more rewarding than the kind of football you are playing giving you results, especially after beating sworn enemies after seven years [Ingwe saw off Gor Mahia on Sunday].

"I hope the management will be patient enough for him in order for the coach to make a mark that identifies them from the rest."

The former Western Stima and Sofapaka star also pointed out how Aussems has developed his players and come up with a new attacking model.

"Right now, you can see they are playing with some style of unique philosophy; they attack from the wings, and their midfielders, especially [Musa] Oundo, go back to defend when the situation demands so," he continued.

"You can see that when they have the ball in midfield, they switch to their wingers to swiftly launch their attacks.

"The midfielders are also good as they can keep the ball, and attacking using the wings gives them uniqueness."

Apart from lauding Aussems’ playing style, Okoth explained why teams will find it difficult to beat the Leopards in the long run.

"Football is all about the system, just as style is also important. You have to look at the kind of players you have, and this is very visible even with Manchester City," the retired footballer concluded.

"The kind of football they play makes it very difficult to stop them, even when other teams have mastered their game plan. The unique system is where the coaches will always win or lose."
