Why Divock Origi is staring at the real possibility of contract termination at AC Milan amidst Turkey & MLS interest

The former Liverpool cult hero has no future at AC Milan, having been banished to play with the reserves following a dissapointing loan spell at Nottingah Forest last season.

Divock Origi has been on AC Milan's exit list since the start of the summer, with the club having no intention of retaining him.

Despite this, the departure of the Belgian striker has proven complicated, as no substantial offers have been received.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, while Origi is keen to remain in England, his most likely destinations appear to be the MLS or Turkey, where the transfer window remains open beyond the deadlines of Europe’s top five leagues.

Origi, who spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, struggled to make an impact, managing just one goal in the FA Cup and failing to find the net in the Premier League.

His underwhelming performance mirrored his brief stint with Milan, where he contributed only two goals and a single assist in 36 appearances.

With the Rossoneri eager to offload Origi, the potential transfer would not only relieve the club of his substantial salary—reportedly €4 million net per season—but could also generate close to €10 million from his sale.

This sum would be reinvested in Milan’s squad, particularly in bolstering their attacking options.

As Origi returns to Milan from his loan spell, the possibility of a transfer to Turkey gains momentum. If the move materializes, it could be beneficial for both parties:

Milan would free up funds for further signings, while Origi would seek to revive his career in a new environment. The coming weeks will be crucial as the striker weighs his options and the transfer window inches closer to closing.

Origi’s tribulations have seen him lose his spot in the Belgium national team and he cannot afford another spell where he is a bit-part player if he still desires to return to the national team.

The forward was close to moving to MLS side Los Angeles FC in January but a deal did not materialise and there could be interest again from America this summer.

However, at 29, Origi is still good enough to continue scoring goals in Europe as it would also offer him the visibility that he needs for a return to the national team.
