Why Haaland reserved special praise for England star after historic goal

Manchester City's Erling Haaland is now in the league of his own after a special and historic night against West Ham at the Etihad.

Erling Haaland has credited his teammate Jack Grealish after his historic outing or Manchester City on Wednesday.

Haaland made Premier League history as City thrashed West Ham United 3-0 at the Etihad with Grealish playing a decisive role.

The Norwegian forward became the player with the most goals in a single season in Premier League history following an inspired outing for the Cityzens. 

Haaland appreciates Grealish

The goal which was created by his English teammate Grealish was the second of the night and Haaland’s 35th of the season in the Premier League alone. 

It saw the 22-year-old surpass legends Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer’s tally (34) to become the player with the most goals in the league in a single season ever. 

Following the feat which saw Haaland receive a guard of honour from his City mates, the former Borussia Dortmund star was quick to praise his teammate for his role in the goal.

According to the striker, they both spoke about it and Grealish wanted to be the one to assist the historic moment. 

"Me and Jack spoke about it," Haaland said. "He wanted to get the assist for the record-breaking goal. It was perfect. It was a nice goal!"

City players hurt Haaland

In a related development,  Haaland has complained of back pain after he was honoured by his teammates at the Etihad.

Guardiola put together a special guard of honour with the City players to celebrate Haaland’s special moment after the game.

However, according to the forward, his back hurts from all the slaps he received during the celebration. 

“It was something Pep did,” Haaland told the Premier League. “My back hurts a lot now, i got a lot of slaps” he joked. “It was a nice moment.”
