Liverpool and Brighton and Hove Albion have reached an agreement that will see World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister switch from a Blue to a Red.
Mac Allister is a new Liverpool player after the club reached an agreement with the Argentine to join the club ahead of next season.
The 24-year-old has put pen to paper on a long-term contract that will see him join the Kops from Amex this summer.
As reported by Pulse Sports Nigeria, Allister’s transfer signals the start of Jurgen Klopp’s rebuild as he looks to get the club back to competing with Manchester City for honours.
Mac Allister explains his decision to join Liverpool
Having completed his medical and agreed personal terms with the club to become their latest number 10, the Argentine has explained his decision to join the Reds.
Six months after he helped Argentina to a historic World Cup win in Qatar 2022, the talented midfielder is hungry for more success on the pitch.
According to him, after all he achieved in the last year at Brighton and with Argentina, the desire to win more trophies has led him to the former Premier League champions.
“Since I won the World Cup, I said that I want to win more trophies and I think that this club will help me to do that – that’s the aim and when you are in a big club like this one you have to win trophies," Mac Allister told the club's website.
"So, that’s what I want. Since I arrived here, I can see how big this club is – the players we have, the staff, everyone. I’m really pleased and looking forward to playing for this club.”
On finally completing the move, he added that it is a dream come true and he can't wait to get started with his new teammates.
“It was a fantastic year for me – World Cup, what we achieved with Brighton," he added. "But now, it’s time to think about Liverpool and try to be a better player and a better human being every day.”
“It feels amazing. It’s a dream come true, it’s amazing to be here and I can’t wait to get started.
“I wanted to be in [from] the first day of pre-season, so it’s good that everything is done. I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates."
