The young custodian sustained an injury, and the defending champions have confirmed he is out of the bout with the FUFA Super 8 winners.

Vipers SC will miss the services of goalkeeper Jack Komakech in their crunch Uganda Premier League encounter with BUL FC at the St Mary's Stadium, Kitende floodlights on Friday.

The young custodian sustained an injury, and the defending champions have confirmed he is out of the bout with the FUFA Super 8 winners.

"Goalkeeper Jack Komakech is not expected to be fit for tomorrow’s game due to a twisted ankle he picked up in training," the club disclosed on their website.

Komakech has been outstanding this season, playing nine of the 11 games so far and keeping five clean sheets in the process.

He was also forced to sit out Vipers' last game, a 1-1 stalemate with Maroons FC at the Luzira Prison Grounds.

Like it was on that occasion, Burundi international Fabien Mutombora is expected to take over between the sticks, with Dennis Kiggundu as his deputy.

Last season's number one, Alfred Macumu Mudekereza, is still ruled out after an injury on his finger that has kept him out so far this season.

However, the club revealed his full return is just around the corner as he resumed training with the rest of the group this season.

"Alfred Mudekereza, who had a broken finger issue that kept him out for three months, has trained all week but will not be in contention."

Meanwhile, winger Abdu Lumala is still out and won't feature against BUL in the battle for the number one slot.

"Abdu Lumala will miss out again against BUL FC due to a groin problem but is back training in the gym and on the sidelines."

While BUL sits at the top with 26 points, the Venoms follow closely with 24, setting up today's meeting nicely.
