Shabana coach Sammy Omollo ‘Pamzo’ is bullish of his side’s survival chances despite their loss to Gor Mahia when they face FC Talanta at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay County
The upcoming midweek fixture holds significant importance for Shabana, who are battling to avoid relegation from the FKFPL at the first time of asking
Reflecting on their recent encounter with league leaders Gor Mahia, where Shabana suffered a narrow defeat, Omollo commended his players for their spirited performance.
Shabana had lost just one of their last five games before their loss to Gor Mahia, something that gives Pamzo plenty of optimism.
"I usually tell my boys that if you lose to a good team while fighting, you should leave the pitch with your head held high," Omollo remarked to Citizen TV.
“Though we played well to a point I thought we would equalize, but unfortunately luck was not on our side, would have been contented had we salvaged even a point but i am satisfied with how my boys played,” said Pamzo.
Looking ahead to the clash with Talanta, Omollo underscored the significance of securing maximum points to bolster their position in the league standings.
With both teams closely positioned on the table, Omollo emphasized the importance of proactive play and seizing opportunities to climb above their rivals.
“We will be going for the three points because we know that if we beat them we will move above them by a point and we will be off the relegation zone fully.”
With optimism and confidence in his team's abilities, Omollo expressed determination to secure victory against Talanta and establish a comfortable buffer from the relegation zone.
He cited the positive momentum gained from recent victories and urged the club's fan base to rally behind the team in their remaining fixtures.
Omollo's coaching experience, including stints with Gor Mahia and Tusker FC, lends credibility to his strategic approach and tactical guidance for Shabana FC.
Shabana’s next remaining fixtures include, Sofapaka, Leopards, Kariobangi Sharks, Bidco United, and Murang’a Seal.
