James Obedi’s first-half strike, followed by Issac Ogwang’s in the 63rd and Emmanuel Mugume’s late goal, ensured that the Cops walked home on top of the Big League table with nine points.

Mugerwa was happy that his team dominated the whole match and put up a spirited show that froze out Ndejje in most parts of the game.

“I’m very happy for the boys [because they] put up a spirited performance,” Mugerwa said.

Bonus lost

Police were put under intense pressure towards the game's closing minutes after Enock Omatiira stunned them with a beautiful strike that pulled one goal back.

That goal meant that the Police lost a clean sheet bonus despite losing the game.

According to the club’s new policy, the team receives about shs.1 million for each match that they defend well by not conceding a goal.

“Our target was to pick all the three points but the unfortunate bit was that we conceded a goal after going two up. However, we regrouped ourselves under a lot of pressure and scored the third,” the coach added.

Police will travel to Lugazi next week on Thursday.
