Manchester United secured safe passage to the next FA Cup round with a 2-0 win away at League One side Wigan

Manchester United picked up just a second win in their last seven games after beating Wigan Athletic 2-0 at the DW Stadium to continue their FA Cup charge.

Goals in either half by Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes sealed the deal for Ten Hag's men in what a display of dominance over their League One hosts.

It gets significantly easier for the Red Devils who will now face Newport County or non-league Eastleigh in the fourth round.

Wigan 0-2 Manchester United

Wigan started on the front foot and had the first chance of the game when Thelo Aasgaard forced an early save from André Onana in the opening five minutes.

Manchester United were buoyed by that and went on to create chances which were missed until the 22nd minute when Diogo Dalot finished nicely from the edge of the box.

Chances continued to pile up for Manchester United who lacked a finishing touch when it mattered the most with Rasmus Hojlund even hitting the woodwork at some point.

The second half progressed in a similar fashion of dominance for the visitors but they would have to wait till the 74th minute when Bruno Fernandes was brought down in the penalty area by Liam Shaw and then converted the spot kick.
