After being convicted of tax fraud, the former Golden Boot winner has now been found guilty of r*pe while waiting to stand trial for another case of abuse.
Wissam Ben Yedder, the former AS Monaco and French national team striker, finds himself at the center of scandal yet again.
According to RMC Sport, the 34-year-old footballer has been sentenced to a two-year suspended prison sentence by the Nice Criminal Court for s*xual assault committed while intoxicated.
In addition to the prison term, Ben Yedder faces a €6,500 compensation order to his victim—€5,000 for moral damages and €1,500 to cover legal costs.
The ruling also includes a €5,000 fine for refusing to comply with law enforcement and a six-month suspension of his driving license.
However, the court returned his father’s vehicle, which had been seized during the investigation.
The report from the aforementioned outlet also notes that Wissam Ben Yedder was absent from the courtroom as the verdict was delivered.
Wissam Ben Yedder’s fall from grace: A slew of scandals
This would not be the first time Wissam Ben Yedder has been caught in the crosshairs of the law.
In a separate investigation, the 2020 Ligue 1 Golden Boot winner was accused of rape, attempted rape, and s*xual assault stemming from a summer 2023 incident, which also implicates his younger brother, Sabri Ben Yedder.
Wissam reportedly shelled out a whopping €900,000 in bail to gain freedom at the time.
The accusations have placed the striker under judicial supervision, further tarnishing his already embattled reputation after being convicted for tax fraud in Spain.
Adding to his laundry list of legal woes, Ben Yedder is set to appear in court later this year to face charges of psychological violence against his estranged wife amid a contentious divorce battle.
