The statement denies any involvement of their players in the alleged incident, which reportedly occurred last Friday evening.
Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers have issued a statement to address recent reports of two players being arrested on rape charges.
The statement released on social media denied any involvement of their players in the alleged incident, which reportedly occurred last Friday evening.
The Midlands side is the first to have broken its silence since news of the arrests broke on Tuesday evening, sharing that they were stating due to their concern over 'player welfare'.
The statement read, "A newspaper article published yesterday has triggered inappropriate online speculation over the identities of two individuals reportedly under investigation.
"Whilst we would not typically comment on ongoing police matters, in order to protect the welfare of our young players, we feel it is necessary to confirm that the allegations do not relate to anyone at Wolves.
"A 19-year-old man was arrested on Saturday (20 April) on suspicion of assault and aiding and abetting a rape. A second 19-year-old man was arrested on Sunday (21 April) on suspicion of rape. Both men have since been released on police bail," the statement read as per daily mail.
