Liverpool avoided a scare to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 and climb to the top of the Premier League standings, above title rivals Manchester City.

Wolves started brightly with Jean-Ricner Bellegarde squandering an early chance to break the deadlock and Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker denying Nélson Semedo's cross and Matheus Cunha's curling effort.
Just before halftime, Andrew Robertson's pinpoint pass found Dominik Szoboszlai, only for Sam Johnstone in the Wolves goal to make a stunning save.
