Manchester United lose again as they fell to relegation-threatened Wolves at Molineux.

Matheus Cunha scored directly from a corner kick to help Wolves beat 10-man Manchester United and compound Ruben Amorim's woes.

The first-half was stiffly contested, with Manchester United slightly shading it. Amorim's half-time team talk went into the bin almost immediately after resumption as Bruno Fernandes received his marching orders.

The hosts seized initiative and through Cunha's stunning Olympic goal, charged into the lead. The Brazil international was unselfish later in the game, laying it off to Hwang Hee Chan to secure a 2-0 win.

The first half was a tightly contested affair, with both teams struggling to gain the upper hand. As a result, efforts from distance became the order of the day, but neither Diogo Dalot (Manchester United) nor Goncalo Guedes (Wolves) could muster enough power to truly test the opposing goalkeeper.

Jorgen Strand Larsen and, surprisingly, Lisandro Martínez both threatened with well-directed headers, the last proper chance in an otherwise cagey half.

The game's dynamics shifted significantly two minutes into the second half when Bruno Fernandes received his second yellow card for a late challenge on ex-Barcelona fullback Nelson Semedo.

With the numerical advantage, Wolverhampton Wanderers thought they had taken the lead moments later, only for Larsen's header to be ruled out for offside. However, the hosts would not be denied for long.

On the hour mark, Cunha's devilish inswinging corner caught everyone off guard, Andre Onana, and sailed directly into the net.  A late counter-attacking goal from Hwang Hee-chan sealed the win for Wolverhampton Wanderers, condemning Manchester United to their third consecutive defeat across all competitions.
