The Nigeria Super Eagles player was the super-sub as he fired his new club to cup glory against his former boss.

Nigeria Super Eagles winger Nathan Tella made headlines on Tuesday night after playing a decisive role in Bayer Leverkusen's victory over Bayern Munich in the DFB-Pokal Cup.

Tella, who previously played under Vincent Kompany at Burnley, came off the bench to score the decisive goal in a tightly contested match that ended 1-0, knocking Bayern out of the tournament.

The match at the Allianz Arena was intense from the start. Leverkusen, the reigning cup champions, faced an early advantage when Bayern's veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was sent off in the 17th minute for a reckless challenge. 

Despite being a man down, Bayern managed to create several scoring opportunities but were thwarted by Leverkusen’s solid defence.

It wasn't until the 69th minute that Tella made his mark. Coming on as a substitute, he connected perfectly with a brilliant cross from Alex Grimaldo, scoring with a stunning header that sent the away fans into a frenzy. 

This goal not only secured Leverkusen's progression to the next round but also dealt a significant blow to Kompany, who had given Tella a chance to shine during their time together at Burnley.

Following the match, Tella and Kompany were seen embracing on the pitch. Despite the competitive nature of their encounter, their reunion was marked by mutual respect and bond. 

Tella was visibly pleased with his performance and the victory as he could not contain his excitement. Kompany, on the other hand, tried to maintain composure despite his disappointment.

With this victory, Leverkusen continue their quest for another cup glory under manager Xabi Alonso, who has maintained an unbeaten record in the DFB-Pokal since taking charge.
