Bayer Leverkusen could face a major shake-up at the end of the season, with manager Xabi Alonso likely joining Nigerian striker Victor Boniface potentially on their way out.
Alonso has yet to commit his future to the club, while Boniface remains a hot target for several European and Middle Eastern sides.
Boniface was close to leaving in January, with Saudi side Al Nassr expressing serious interest. While the move didn’t materialize, the general expectation is that the Nigerian forward will depart in the summer.
Meanwhile, Alonso has been heavily linked with a return to his former clubs. Liverpool showed interest before appointing Arne Slot, while Real Madrid are reportedly still considering him for a future role.
Alonso fails to commit to Leverkusen beyond this season

The Spaniard, who is under contract until 2026, was expected to address his future in a recent press conference. However, he refrained from making any commitments.
“I’m staying focused this season. We’re in an important phase and don’t want to speculate. We don’t want to think about anything other than football,” Alonso said before Leverkusen’s victory over Bochum.
Under Alonso’s leadership, Leverkusen secured their first-ever Bundesliga title, but a significant squad overhaul is expected this summer. As many as nine players, including Jeremie Frimpong and Boniface, could depart, providing the club with a substantial transfer budget for the 2025/26 season.
Whether Alonso will be part of that rebuild remains uncertain, leaving fans and club officials anxiously awaiting his final decision.
