Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand retold an incident between Sur Alex Ferguson and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand narrated an incident when Cristiano Ronaldo got a dressing down from Sir Alex Ferguson, which brought the Portugal international to tears. 

While he is now almost 40 and has already established himself as one of the greatest footballers of all time, Ronaldo's humble beginnings were at Manchester United, and like any other football, he had teething problems. 

Ronaldo tended to showboat when he was still a wiry teenage winger, which was to the chagrin of Sir Alex on one occasion and eventually led to the infamous “hairdryer treatment.”

What Ferdinand said 

Rio was one of the senior members of the Red Devils squad that helped blood Ronaldo into the limelight. Since retiring, the former England international is now a media personality. 

Hence, he was one of those interviewed for the upcoming anonymous BBC documentary on the legendary Scottish manager.

Ferdinand recalled the now-infamous incident with brought Ronaldo to tears, explaining how he consoled the Al Nassr man at the time.

 "We'd been to Portugal and played a couple of games, and he hadn't played well,” Ferdinand said. 

“Cristiano, because he was young, he tried too hard. I remember we played Benfica, and the manager ripped into Cristiano. 'Who d'you think you are? You're coming in here trying to prove to everybody who you think you are, you think you're a superstar.” 

“And I remember Cristiano in tears in the changing room. And I was like, 'This manager doesn't care, man. He doesn't care who you are.'"
